I have been to many gyms and can say few rival the kindness, professional instruction and quality of this school. I dropped in as I was travelling through town and was invited to join a class. I felt like Id been there for years. I learned a ton! Worth your time and money to invest in training. I will be back whenever I'm in Boise.

I had wanted to get into Jiu Jitsu for a couple years and so glad I found Spectre Jiu Jitsu. Derek, Thomas, and Jake are great instructors. They take the time to help develop each student's game personally and help explain techniques in different ways until it makes sense to you. The room is focused on getting your game better and everyone wants to help you come along and make progress.

If you are thinking about trying somewhere out or cross training - Give it a go!

- Paris Spinelli

This gym is represented by three extremely humble and knowledgeable instructors! What makes them different from the rest is that they aren’t afraid to show their students the techniques and concepts that continue to work for them while grappling! I personally feel that the drills I have been doing at his gym for the past two months have helped me advance more than the last six months I spent at any other gym! Advanced training and a community attitude is what you will receive at Spectre Jiu Jitsu!

- Zachary Davlin

Great Academy! I was visiting for the weekend and dropped in to the Saturday and Sunday classes and felt like I was training at my home gym. Everyone was extremely welcoming and the group had a great culture/vibe. High level technique and instruction from Prof. Jake and Prof. Derek. Both instructors took time during and after class to go over details and answer any questions. For anyone, at any level, looking for a gym I'd highly recommend this place. I most definitely will be back soon to train!

- Daniel Lozier

I’ve been training with Spectre for 3 years now. What I have gathered from my time with them is that they are caring, consistent, supportive, and professional. The instruction from the professors is second to none. They teach you relevant and current techniques; with a great emphasis on strong fundamentals. They have become my family, and I look forward to my future with Spectre.

- James Durbin

Awesome instruction, great facility and great group of people. During my trip to Boise I stopped in to train. Instructors Jake and Derrick were very welcoming and taught great technique. They both took the time to go over extra details and answer any questions. Highly recommend this place to anyone training jiu jitsu from beginner to advanced you will not be disappointed.

A Final Word from Head Instructor Derek Newton

At Spectre Jiu Jitsu, we believe Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is more than just a martial art, it’s a journey of personal growth, resilience, and empowerment.

Training in BJJ builds not only physical strength through dynamic movements and techniques but also sharpens the mind by challenging you to think strategically and adaptively.

Beyond the physical and mental benefits, BJJ instills a profound sense of confidence.

Each time you step onto the mat, you’re presented with an opportunity to grow, to push your limits, and to discover the strength within you.

As you progress, you'll find that the lessons learned in BJJ extend far beyond the dojo, influencing various aspects of your life with discipline, respect, and determination.

This confidence is cultivated by facing challenges head-on, learning from setbacks, and persevering through adversity.

We invite you to join us at Spectre Jiu Jitsu and experience firsthand the transformative power of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
